March in Adelaide is known as Mad March for a reason however there has been even more happening this month in the city of churches. Of course, it’s festival season with the Adelaide Fringe, WOM Adelaide and the Adelaide Festival. COVID restrictions have been lowered just in time for the people of Adelaide to enjoy these events however that, plus the return to school, has possibly seen the number of Covid cases increase.
South Australia also headed to the polls electing a new Labour government that promises to bring back the Adelaide 500 Supercar race. Traditionally also held in March since 1999, the former Liberal state government axed the race in 2020. New Premier Peter Malinuaskas plans to reinstate the event in early December this year. That will spread events out a bit more and give fans and fun event just before Christmas.
Meanwhile events are back in Adelaide and South Australia is holding its breath, hoping they can stay. Current restrictions include the requirement for COVID Management Plans for events of more than 1000 people and the use of masks for high-risk settings including shared indoor public places except bridal parties during ceremonies, private functions and private activities.
So, Adelaide residents can plan a wedding or party and do things like hire a photobooth for fun memories. Let’s hope COVID cases remain under control and people can keep planning for and enjoying their events.
